Wikipedia and other websites often provide useful insight and background information about the technology, which is adapted in equipment. Unknown technical terms will in first hand be classically noted down separately. In my personal databases as well as on proZ.com there are already huge amounts of information gathered in glossaries and KudoZ entries to research the exact terminology. Additionally, translation colleagues with experience in special fields are always available.
